Indulge in the captivating allure of Gerard Bertrand Domaine de Villemajou, a wine that holds a special place in the heart of Gérard Bertrand himself. This family property, located in the remarkable terroir of Boutenac in the Corbières, was acquired by Gérard’s father, Georges Bertrand, in 1970. For over fifteen years, father and son shared a profound passion for wine within these walls. When Gérard Bertrand assumed ownership of the estate following his father’s passing, he continued to uphold the commitment to quality and the expression of terroir that had been set forth. With an unwavering desire for innovation, Gérard Bertrand strives to meet the expectations of wine enthusiasts worldwide.

Spanning across 130 hectares of land, Gerard Bertrand Domaine de Villemajou stands as the flagship of the esteemed Boutenac appellation, being the first-ranked growth of the Corbières recognized by the INAO (Institut national des appellations d’origine). This estate stands out with its ancient Carignan vines, a Mediterranean grape variety that has been revived to produce extraordinary wines of the Languedoc. The exceptional soil of the estate allows for deep-rooted vines, safeguarding the vineyard from the climatic extremes of the Mediterranean, such as hydric stress and tempestuous storms.

The vineyard at Gerard Bertrand Domaine de Villemajou is meticulously tended to with exquisite attention to detail, ensuring the production of ripe, healthy fruit of the utmost quality. Each grape is hand-picked and undergoes a meticulous “double” sorting process on the table. The vinification process is meticulously tailored to the specific grape varieties. Carignan and Syrah grapes are vinified without crushing, utilizing the principles of carbonic maceration for a period ranging from 10 to 18 days. Grenache grapes, on the other hand, undergo traditional maceration after being crushed, fermenting for 15 to 20 days. The resulting Gerard Bertrand Domaine de Villemajou wine then matures in barrels for an extensive period of 10 to 12 months, depending on the vintage. After this aging process, the Gerard Bertrand Domaine de Villemajou wines are further refined for an additional 6 months before being bottled.

Gerard Bertrand Domaine de Villemajou presents itself in an opulent and resplendent robe. The aromatic complexity enthralls the senses, offering enticing notes of jammy fruit, sweet spices, leather, and coffee. On the palate, it exudes a round and sweet character, with exquisite fruit flavors elegantly framed by fine-grained tannins. With remarkable balance, this wine possesses great potential for aging, allowing for an even more rewarding experience over time. Pair this magnificent wine with grilled red meats, Mediterranean dishes, or mature cheeses to elevate your culinary adventures. For optimal enjoyment, decant and serve at a temperature of 17°C.

Gerard Bertrand Domaine de Villemajou invites you on an exquisite journey, showcasing the mastery of winemaking and the profound connection to the land. With every bottle, you experience the impeccable craftsmanship and the dedication put into every detail, resulting in a wine that embodies elegance and sophistication. Delight in the rich tapestry of flavors, aromas, and textures that this wine has to offer, and revel in its ability to create memories and moments that will last a lifetime.
